Save Folders on Windows
Press Win + R, paste the path below and press Enter. AppData is hidden by default, so this is quicker than browsing.
- Main folder: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\DragDropGames\MoonSweepers
- Worlds synced by Steam Cloud: ...\MoonSweepers\MoonSessions
- Automatic 1.0.4 backups: ...\MoonSweepers\Backups
How the 1.0.4 Backups Work
The 1.0.4 patch notes add automatic backups stored outside Steam Cloud. Fan guides summarising those notes report up to five backups per save slot, with the first taken about a minute into a session and more every 30 minutes, and an automatic restore if a world is damaged on load.
The same notes warn that a save made in 1.0.4 cannot be opened in older versions. Do not roll back the game to fix a world without a separate copy.
How to Back Up a World Safely
- Quit to the desktop and wait until the game process has fully closed.
- Copy the whole MoonSweepers folder to another drive or a USB stick.
- Keep older copies; the automatic backups rotate out.
- To restore, close the game, put your copy back and launch again. Let Steam Cloud finish syncing first.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Moon Sweepers use Steam Cloud?
Yes. SteamDB lists cloud sync for the MoonSessions folder. The 1.0.4 backups are kept outside Steam Cloud.
Where are co-op worlds saved?
On the host's PC. Guests join the host's world, so the host should keep the backups.
Can I move my save to another PC?
Steam Cloud normally does this for you. To be safe, also copy the MoonSweepers folder by hand.
