Best Tools Facts at a Glance
A tool ranking needs a tool list and test data. Neither is available from official sources yet. Here is what is and is not confirmed.
- Confirmed: the starting tool is a toothbrush.
- Confirmed: earnings from dust shipments buy better tools.
- Not published: a complete tool roster.
- Not verified: prices, stats or comparative cleaning tests.
- Not available: any ranking backed by measurements.
Why There Is No Ranking Yet
The Steam store establishes that better tools exist. It does not say which tool wins under a given budget or playstyle. A ranking needs more than that.
The GamesFinity launch report confirms tool progression too, but it did not test tool efficiency. The official trailer and teaser descriptions contain no benchmarks either. Promotional footage is not a controlled equipment test.
What We Know About Tools
Every Moon Sweepers player starts with a toothbrush. You use it to clean dusty terrain and collect lunar dust. Shipping that dust from a depot earns the money for better tools.
That is the full confirmed picture. Tool names beyond the toothbrush were not verified. Our cleaning tools page tracks the catalogue as it grows.
How a Fair Tool Comparison Works
A useful ranking starts by defining the criteria. Cleaning speed matters, but so do the purchase cost and the time spent travelling to a depot. A tool that cleans faster may not earn more if each delivery run is long.
Each tool should be tested on the same work area, in the same game build. The test should time a full collection and delivery cycle, not just the cleaning. Only then can two tools be compared fairly.
Is the Most Expensive Tool Always Best?
Not necessarily, and there is no data to prove it either way. A pricier tool only pays off if it shortens your full cycle by enough. That depends on your capacity and your depot distance too.
Carrying capacity is another confirmed upgrade. It lets you handle larger jobs between deliveries. Sometimes capacity, not a new tool, may be the better buy, but this has not been tested.
Which Tool Should You Buy First?
No tested first purchase exists yet. The confirmed choices are a better cleaning tool or more carrying capacity. Pick based on which part of your cycle feels slowest.
If cleaning a full load takes most of your time, a better tool is the natural choice. If walking to the depot takes most of your time, capacity or a closer depot may help more. This is analysis of the confirmed loop, not a measured route.
Tools, Vehicles and the Bigger Picture
Cleaning vehicles become usable as your operation develops. They are a separate system from handheld tools. How they compare with tools was not verified.
A complete best-equipment answer will need both tools and vehicles measured. Our cleaning vehicles page tracks what is known. Our best upgrades page covers how to compare all purchases.
Best Tools in Solo and Co-op
Moon Sweepers supports solo play and online co-op for up to 16 players. The best tool for one player may differ from the best choice for a crew. That comparison has not been tested.
We also have not verified whether tools are shared in co-op. If they are, a crew might plan purchases together. Our multiplayer page will add that once confirmed.
What We Need Before Publishing a Ranking
We will only rank tools when measurements support it. These are the inputs each test needs. Every result will name the build it was measured on.
- The full tool roster.
- Repeatable cleaning tests on the same area.
- The cost of each tool.
- The return-trip time to a depot.
- The game build or patch.
- A solo versus co-op comparison.
Official Moon Sweepers Channels
DragDrop Games is listed on Steam as both the developer and the publisher of Moon Sweepers. The official channels we could verify are the Steam store page, the Steam community discussions and the MoonSweepers YouTube channel. Equipment changes and patch notes would most likely appear there first.
Steam's website field for the game points to a Discord server, but we could not verify that invite. We therefore do not link it on this site. Player posts on any channel are reports, not official statements, unless a developer identity is confirmed.
Common Mistakes With Tool Rankings
The biggest mistake is trusting a tier list that cites no tests. With no published tool roster, a ranking cannot be checked against anything official. Ask for the build version and the test method before relying on one.
Another mistake is measuring only cleaning speed. A full cycle includes filling storage and delivering to a depot. A tool that looks fast in a short clip may not raise your earnings over a whole session.
Why Equipment Details Are Still Missing
At our October 22, 2026 check, Moon Sweepers was still listed on Steam as coming soon, with a planned release on October 23, 2026. The equipment details players want most come from playing the released build. Official descriptions and trailers only cover the broad systems.
Pre-release footage can also differ from the final game. That is why we do not read item stats from trailers. Once the game is out, we will test equipment directly and date every value we add.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the most expensive tool always the best?
That has not been tested. A tool only pays off if it shortens your full cleaning and delivery cycle.
Which tool should I buy first?
No tested first purchase exists. The confirmed options are a better tool or more carrying capacity.
Is there an official tool tier list?
No. The developer has not published one, and no measured ranking was found.
Is the toothbrush ever the best tool?
It is the confirmed starting tool. No test compares it with later tools yet.
Will you publish a tool tier list?
Yes, but only once we can test every tool in the released build and repeat the results.
