Depot Placement at a Glance
Only one placement rule has been confirmed so far. The rest needs testing in the released game. Here is what we know and what we do not.
- Confirmed: depots can be placed near active work.
- Confirmed: depots are where you deliver dust and launch shipments.
- Not verified: placement radius or terrain restrictions.
- Not verified: depot cost or maximum number.
- Not verified: whether depots can be moved.
Why Depot Placement Matters
Every load of lunar dust has to reach a depot before it can be shipped. Shipments are how you get paid. So the distance between your work and your depot is part of every earning cycle.
Your storage limit decides how often you make that trip. When storage fills, you head to a depot. The closer it is, the sooner you are back to cleaning.
The Confirmed Rule: Place Depots Near Your Work
The developer's Steam description says depots can be placed near the work. A launch report from GamesFinity says the same. That is the one placement principle backed by the sources we checked.
Neither source gives a placement radius or a required spacing. Neither mentions a grid or terrain rules. We do not fill those gaps with guesses.
What Has Not Been Verified
We could not confirm how you open the placement option or what it costs. We also could not confirm whether there is a maximum number of depots. Relocation and refunds are unknown as well.
Vehicle access to depots was not verified either. That may matter once vehicles join your operation. We will add it when it can be tested.
Planning Around Delivery Distance
Without official numbers, think in terms of your own trips. Note how far you walk from your cleaning area to the depot with each full load. If that walk takes a large share of the cycle, moving closer may help.
This is analysis of the confirmed proximity rule, not a measured result. We have not compared travel times across layouts. A real comparison also needs the cost of each depot, which is still unknown.
Carrying Capacity Changes the Picture
The developer links increased carrying capacity to handling larger jobs between deliveries. With more capacity, you make fewer depot trips. That can make a farther depot less of a problem.
Capacity and placement work together, but no official guidance ranks one over the other. Our carrying capacity page covers the confirmed upgrade role. Our best upgrades page explains how to compare purchases.
Depot Placement in Co-op
In online co-op for up to 16 players, crews can work in separate areas or clean together. Separate areas might each benefit from a nearby depot. A single shared area might need fewer.
We have not verified who can place depots in a co-op session. We also do not know whether depots are shared. Our multiplayer page lists the confirmed co-op features.
How We Will Test Layouts
Once the game is out, we will compare sample layouts on the same work area. Each test will note the build version, the depot cost and the time per delivery run. Only repeatable results will be published.
We will keep layout analysis separate from confirmed mechanics. That way you can see which parts are tested and which are opinion. The date at the top shows when this page was last checked.
Open Questions About Placement
These are the placement details players ask about most. None of them were answered in the sources we checked. We will update this list as each one is confirmed.
- The placement menu.
- Terrain validation rules.
- The cost of a depot.
- Minimum spacing between depots.
- The maximum number of depots.
- Relocation and refunds.
- Vehicle access requirements.
Placement as Your Operation Grows
Your operation changes as you earn money. Better tools, more carrying capacity and later cleaning vehicles all change how you move around the Moon. A depot spot that suits a toothbrush may not suit a larger setup.
Since depots can be placed near the work, you can follow the job as it moves. Whether old depots can be moved or refunded was not verified. Plan with that uncertainty in mind until it is tested.
Common Placement Mistakes
The first mistake is never placing a depot closer to the work. The developer confirms that you can, and each long walk adds time to the cycle. Check your route whenever you start a new area.
The second mistake is trusting placement rules that have no source. We found no official radius, spacing or limit. If a layout guide quotes exact numbers, ask which build it tested.
Official Moon Sweepers Channels
DragDrop Games is listed on Steam as both the developer and the publisher of Moon Sweepers. The official channels we could verify are the Steam store page, the Steam community discussions and the MoonSweepers YouTube channel. Patch notes and announcements that change the loop would most likely appear there first.
Steam's website field for the game points to a Discord server, but we could not verify that invite. We therefore do not link it on this site. The Steam discussions are also the right place to report bugs, since we cannot fix the game itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an existing depot be moved?
Relocation was not verified. We will add it after testing the released game.
Is there a maximum number of depots?
A depot limit was not verified in the sources we checked.
Where is the best place for a depot?
The confirmed rule is near your active work. No tested optimal layout exists yet.
Do depots cost money to place?
A depot cost was not verified in the official sources we checked.
Can I place depots in co-op?
Co-op depot permissions were not verified. Online co-op itself supports up to 16 players.
Do I need more than one depot?
No official guidance says so. Placing a depot near each active work area follows the one confirmed rule.
